Thalapathy Vijay is known for making statements against the government in his own style. For the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, which is happening today, Vijay made a statement by cycling his way to the polling booth. In a surprising move, Vijay was seen riding a bicycle to the polling booth in Neelangarai, Chennai. He was followed by police and his helper on a bike and a bevvy of fans thronged to catch Vijay. More than hundreds of people gathered at the venue and the police had a tough job in maintaining social distancing. Vijay then had to ask his assistant to take the cycle and he reached his home on a bike.
Photos and videos of Vijay cycling his way to the booth are going viral. Many suggest that this was Vijay's reply to the constant rise in petrol and diesel prices. Many suggest Vijay is against the petrol hikes. Vijay's publicist Riaz took to Twitter to reveal that there was no intention behind him coming in the cycle. He wrote, "#ThalapathyVijay decided to go by cycle instead of using the car because the poll booth was right next to his residence and taking the car might have congested the road even more. There was no other intention behind it! (sic)."
