Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast. The film ended up becoming a middling entertainer. Now, Vijay has joined hands with director Vamshi Paidipally for Varisu. The shooting of Varisu is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Ennore, Chennai. On September 28, hundreds of fans flocked to the shooting spot of Varisu to get a glimpse of Thalapathy Vijay. Hearing that the fans are out to see him, Vijay came out to the spot and then waved at the crowd. The visuals of Vijay from the shooting spot are going viral on social media.

However, it has been revealed that the shooting of Varisu had been cancelled on September 29. Due to heavy rains lashing Chennai, the shooting of Varisu had been cancelled. The makers of Varisu had planned to wrap up the shooting of the film by the end of this month. Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna play lead roles in the film. The film is tipped to be a family entertainer and it also features Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Khushbu and Jayasudha in important roles.
