Chalachithra Academy Vice Chairman Prem Kumar reacts to actor Indrans' remark that the jury may not have seen the film 'Home'. Prem Kumar said such arguments were wrong. He added that the jury had seen all the films that made it to the list. Prem Kumar told Reporter TV that digital evidence could be examined if needed.
Prem Kumar’s words:
There were 142 films. Of these, 22 films made it to the final list. The movie Home was on that list. The jury has seen that movie. The job of the academy is to bring the films before the jury. It has clearly been done. The argument that the jury did not see the home is false. We have all the digital evidence in our hands. It's just verifiable.
Syed Mirza is a nationally and internationally acclaimed director. It was evaluated by a team led by him. Each jury has their own position. This is the conclusion of this jury, and the decision could have been reversed if it had been another jury. It is also subjective. There were movies that we personally wanted to win the award for. It can make a difference. This is the final decision of the jury. I'm not the one to talk about it. The argument that the jury has not seen the movies cannot be accepted. I had seen the film Home. Personally, I really liked that movie. Indrans Chettan's performance in that film is the best. But that is the decision of the jury. We cannot question it.
The 52nd State Film Awards were announced yesterday. Following the announcement, several people came out on social media accusing the jury of not considering the film Home. Actor Indrans had come to the scene with the allegation that jury had not seen the film Home. “If Vijay Babu is innocent, will the jury reverse the award decision? He does not regret not getting the award. Hridayam is good, but Home could have been considered with Hridayam. Complaints against Vijay Babu may also have been the reason for his dismissal. Many people came know about the OTT platforms only after watching the film Home;” said Indrans.
However, jury chairman Syed Mishra said the jury was not affected by Vijay Babu's case. “I did not know anything about the controversy surrounding the home filmmaker. Today I know about the same. Therefore, the issue did not affect the jury. It should never influence the jury. Because cinema is not a matter of a single person or his character. Cinema is cinema. The winners were chosen unanimously by all the jury members. Home was not in the last phase in any category;” Syed Mishra told the media.
