Jawan is one of the most anticipated films in the country. Shah Rukh Khan, who recently experienced the massive success of the year's biggest hit, Pathaan, stars in the movie. The film, which is still playing in theatres, has made over Rs. 1050 crores at international box offices. Atlee, who previously helmed Bigil, which made over Rs. 300 crores globally, is the director of Jawan.
Added to that, the involvement of Nayanthara, Sanjay Dutt, Vijay Sethupathi, and Deepika Padukone—who makes a lengthy cameo appearance—only strengthens this pan-Indian blockbuster. The release of Jawan is approaching in under two months. Several OTT giants are vying for the rights to this magnum opus while the talks for the film's digital rights are in full swing.
A source in the OTT sector has provided information regarding the competition for Jawan's digital rights. According to the source, “Jawan is viewed as a film that can bring in tremendous viewerships. The film has a universal appeal, and thanks to mega budgets spent on the scale of the film, it’s expected to be a spectacle. Most importantly, it is a multi-lingual film that will penetrate viewership across the country. In that sense, it’s a true pan-India film with big names from across the nation. It is bound to connect with a wider audience. All of this is a big win for any OTT platform".
The most likely option to acquire digital rights to Jawan is Netflix. Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix have a history of working together. The massive streaming service offers more than 20 Red Chillies Entertainment titles. It would be great if another movie were to be added to the list of movies that Shah Rukh Khan's production company has licensed. Many of Red Chillies Entertainment's original series had their rights extended late last year, and they are reportedly good for 5 years.
The movie Jawan will debut on June 2nd, 2023. The team has just got a few songs to film and some patchwork to finish up since the movie's principal shooting wrapped up late last month. The movie's marketing effort is reportedly about to start. The most favoured south Indian composer, Anirudh Ravichander, provided the music.
