“The Fact That The Film Or Its Director Is Not Having A Place In The Prestigious Awards Ceremony Of Malayalam Cinema Is An Insult;” Manu Jagath, The Art Director Of Minnal Murali Writes Against Kerala State Film Awards

Reportedly, Basil Joseph-Tovino's film 'Minnal Murali' was considered by the majority of the jury at the State Film Awards. This was while selecting the most popular and artistic film. Minnal Murali had more support in this category than the film ‘Home’.

However, the theatrical release 'Hridayam' was selected as the most popular film.

Manu Jagath, the art director of Minnal Murali, has come out against this. Manu Jagath said that it was reprehensible that the jury pretended not to see the efforts of director Basil Joseph. His response was via a Facebook post.

“Such a release is not his fault. Corona is a disease that has paralyzed the entire world. Despite the OTT release, Minnal Murali has received worldwide acclaim that has not been received by any other film. However, the fact that the film or its director is not having a place in the prestigious awards ceremony of Malayalam cinema is an insult to even this award;” wrote Manu.

He also added that many are ignoring the actor Gurusomasundaram. “Gurusomasundaram has received many accolades for his character excellence. Guru Somasundaram portrayed an ordinary man's transformation into an extraordinary human being. It seemed that he too could be considered here.

Basil's confidence in portraying him as the villain of such a superhero cannot be overlooked. Although this eagerness to give awards to films before people see them (which have not even been released) can be here in the future to give recognition to a film that is recognized by the world;” Manu Jagath added.
