The Family Man 2 makers say 'We respect Tamil sentiments' after a plea to ban the show was filed

Soon after the release of the trailer of The Family Man 2, a call for its ban started trending on social media. Why? Because a section of people in Tamil Nadu feel they are wrongly presented as anti-nationals in the upcoming series of the Amazon Prime app.

Even the Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko had filed a plea to the Information and Broadcasting minister to take down the show. His plea mentioned that the Tamil Eelam warriors were shown as a terrorist group in the trailer of the show which has hurt their sentiments.

And now, the makers Raj & DK have released a statement asking people to first watch the show before making any assumptions about it. "Some assumptions and impressions have been made based on just a couple of shots in the trailer. Many of our lead cast members and key members of the creative & writing team are Tamilians," the statement began.

Adding to it, they wrote, "We are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people. We have put in years of hard work into this show, and we have taken great pains to bring to our audiences a sensitive, balanced and riveting story - much like we did in Season 1 of the show. We request everyone to wait and watch the show when it releases. We know you'll appreciate it once you watch it." The season 2 of the show stars Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Akkineni, Sharib Hashmi and more in the lead roles. It will release on the Amazon prime app on June 11.
