Directed by Wes Anderson, The French Dispatch brings the actors together again. They worked together in 2017's Lady Bird. Then again in 2019's Little Women, both films helmed by Greta Gerwig. Now, Chalamet and Ronan are back at it. This time, it's director Wes Anderson behind the camera.
The French Dispatch stars Bill Murray as the editor-in-chief of a literary magazine. Tilda Swinton describes it as, "a factual weekly report on the subjects of politics, the arts — high and low — and diverse stories of human interest.” The trailer shares glimpses of a few stories that the Dispatch is working on. One includes an eccentric artist and the increased demand for his work. Another is about the young protestors who took part in the Paris riots of May 1968. Unfortunately for fans who ship Chalamet-Ronan on-screen, the trailer does not give anything away about the duo’s appearances together in the film. While Chalamet plays one of the protestors, Ronan appears to be in a completely different story. Her plotline involves the kidnapping of a chef.
The film also stars Frances McDormand, Owen Wilson, Elisabeth Moss, Benicio Del Toro, Liev Schreiber, Léa Seydoux, Adrien Brody, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Christoph Waltz, and Anjelica Huston.
Twitter users have begun expressing their excitement about the film. Given the aesthetics, everyone seems to agree that this film by Wes Anderson might be the most Wes Anderson film ever.
Mike Cecchini (wayoutstuff) tweeted. “The French Dispatch looks like the most Wes Anderson movie that ever Wes Andersoned and I am extremely here for it.”
