“The Heroine Was Seen As A Sexual Object Or A Worthless Character;” Says Nikhila Vimal

Actress Nikhila Vimal says that she has seen portraying women overcoming problems in female-based movies. In an interview with Mathrubhumi, Nikhila said that she believes that just those should not be women-centric films. Nikhila added that she wants to change the way women are portrayed as weak and fickle.

Nikhila says that a woman-based film shows female characters that are always escaping from problems and fighting outside. Everyone has problems and it does not have to be projected alone.

“If we still pay attention, the movies will be more about the protagonist's perspective. Although there are a few films about women, there are still some things that come from the protagonist's point of view. The heroine was seen as a sexual object or a worthless character. But today a lot has changed in that;” said Nikhila Vimal.

Nikhila also added that many of the films only show female characters overcoming problems. “Films that tell the stories of women are often sought after. But many of them are the hardships of women and overcoming it;” said Nikhila Vimal. Nikhila Vimal said that female-oriented stories can be made without any of this.

Nikhila’s latest film Jo and Jo was released last week. The film directed by Arun D Jose continues to be a theatrical hit.
