Ranu Mondal had become a star of the internet overnight after a clip of her singing one of Lata Mangeshkar's songs at Ranaghat railway station got viral. She also later returned to newspapers after several media reports stated that Bollywood actor Salman Khan had given her a flat worth Rs. 55 lakh.
But, in an interview with the news agency, Vicky Biswas, a member of Amra Shobai Shoitan club from Ranaghat, refuted the reports as 'false news‘. He said that two members of their club shot the video of their song at Ranaghat station that has become viral on social media. They had been looking after Ranu di since then. They hadn't heard of Salman Khan giving Ranu di a flat worth Rs. 55 lakh. It's false news that's been spreading on social media.
The famous singer Himesh Reshammiya asked her to perform a reality show Superstar Singer, after the clip of Ranu Mondal singing Lata Mangeshkar's Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai became viral. For Himesh's upcoming movie Happy Hardy and Heer, Ranu Mondal, 59, has also registered Aadat and Teri Meri Kahaani.
Mr. Biswas said that Ranu Mondal was only paid to perform on the following reality show so far. A lot of fake news about Ranu di is doing rounds on social media, like buying a vehicle worth Rs 15 lakh or calling for Bigg Boss, or Himesh Reshammiya paid her Rs 50 lakh to record her song. Yes, Himesh Ji did a lot for her and also supported her journeys to Mumbai, but the remainder of these accounts are fake.
