The Whistlers and Deerskin Stands out as the best at MAMI on day 7
On the last day at the MAMI International Film festival, apart from Saand Ki Aankh, the foreign movies The Whistlers and Deerskin received huge acclaims by the moviegoers.
The last day at the MAMI International Film Festival went on with the screenings of a few acclaimed films. One of them is the Romanian crime drama The Whistlers. Directed by Corneliu Porumboiu, this movie is quite engaging with a lot of thrilling moments.
The film showcases the story of a police officer who visits an island to recover the money stolen by a con-gang. The whistling language in the film is quite funny and given an entertaining experience to the audience. It got selected as an official entry for Oscars this year, from Romania. It was also premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival in the competition section.
Corneliu Porumboiu is the director of The Whistlers.
There are quite a few comedy films that got screened in this year's MAMI Film Festival. The French comedy Deerskin directed by Quentin Dupieux stands among the best of them. The director took a wafer-thin storyline and made it an entertaining film.
It portrays the story of a filmmaker who gets obsessed with the clothes made with deerskin. He then decides to become the only man to wear a jacket in the entire country. What he does to achieve that mission will make us split into laughs. The lead actor's performance is brilliant, and he carried the entire film on his shoulders with his subtle yet brilliant expressions. Deerskin got premiered in Cannes earlier this year under the Director's Fortnight section.
