Theaters will remain shut for the next 2-3 months: Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav

The coronavirus pandemic has severely affected the film industry. Coming to the Telugu film industry, there were no releases in the last two months. All the theaters got shut and productions got stopped. Telangana Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav says that the theaters may get opened for at least 2-3 months more. He added that we need more time to get settled from this situation.
Speaking to Filter Kaapi, Talasani said that it will be a problem if the theaters reopen now. He stated that even the people are not willing to go out due to the pandemic. The Minister added that the seating layout should get changed and new social distancing rules should get implemented in the cinema halls before reopening them. Talasani informed us that the multiplex chains are ready to adopt the changes. But many of the single screens don't have finances to revamp their theaters to suit the new rules and regulations. Thus, the government is planning not to reopen cinema halls for at least 2-3 months more. The Minister stated that even the exhibitors are also on the same page.
Talasani admitted that few producers have approached him to seek permission to start shootings. He also said that television producers promised that they will shoot indoors with minimum crew. But, the government is still not in the favor of resuming the shoots as various workers like drivers and light boys should travel from a long distance. The officials fear that it may spread COVID-19. Thus, there is no decision taken on this issue yet.
Talasani opined that people will come back to the theaters once the situation gets back to a normal state. He said that we need to be patient and give it some time.
