Theatres in Kerala will reopen as scheduled. Theaters in the state that were closed following the second wave of Covid will reopen on Monday (October 25). The decision finalized the news at a meeting of theater owners yesterday. The owners will hold talks with the government on October 22 before opening the theater.
The government had earlier permitted the theater to remain open from the 25th. However, theater owners' organizations have demanded that the government waive the entertainment tax. They had also demanded to waive the KSEB fixed deposit during the non-operating months of the theater and waive the building tax. The meeting decided to reopen the theater on Monday. Though there was confusion over the demands currently they have put forward.
When the theater opens in Kerala after six months, many Malayalam films are set to release soon. The release of Kaval and Ajagajantaram has already been announced. The release date of more films is expected in the coming days as the theater is sure to open.
However, only 50 percent of the audience is currently allowed to enter. Staff and audiences are required to complete a 2-dose vaccine as well. Moviegoers have expressed their happiness on the good news through social media. many have made comments that indicated their need to reopen the theatres.
