From yesterday, we are hearing the rumors about the death of legendary singer S. Janaki. The news spread like a wildfire on social media and everyone also paid their condolences. However, it is now clarified as a hoax. Janaki's son has clarified that she is doing absolutely fine and requested people to stop believing in rumors.
Janaki's son Murali spoke with television channels the other day. He said that Janaki is doing well and the news revolving in media is not true. Music director Dhina also clarified that Janaki is doing well. He said that singer SP Balasubrahmanyam had a word with Janaki yesterday. She sounded well and healthy. She also shared that this might be the fourth or fifth time her death news came out in media. Dhina requested people and media not to spread such rumors without any clarification.
This is not the first time Janaki's death news hoax surfaced on media. Earlier in 2016, a similar report came out when she announced her retirement from singing with the Malayalam song Amma Poovinum. Even at that time, it was SP Balasubrahmanyam who clarified that it was false.
Janaki made her singing debut in 1957 and worked for over six decades. In her career, Janaki crooned more than 48000 songs in 17 different languages. She is fondly called the Nightingale of South India. Janaki won four National Awards in her career. She is popular for her association with SP Balasubrahmanyam and Ilaiyaraja.
