Director Omar Lulu says that he will direct ‘Vaariyamkunnan’ if a producer who is ready to spend Rs 15 crore comes. Omar added that he will be able to do action scenes like never before. Omar Lulu's reaction came after news broke that Ashiq Abu and Prithviraj had withdrawn from the announced film.
Omar Lulu wrote on Facebook: "If a producer who is willing to spend Rs 15 crore on Babu Antony Ichayan without looking at pre-business; comes, there will be a new ‘Vaariyamkunnan’ with a lot of action scenes in Malayalam cinema like never before."
Earlier, Ashiq Abu announced 'Vaariyamkunnan' with Prithviraj as the hero. Reportedly, the two withdrew from the film due to differences with the producers.
Initially, Anwar Rashid was set to direct 'Vaariyamkunnan' with Vikram in the lead role. The project was later taken over by Aashiq Abu. Anwar Rashid told co-writer Rameez that he had to abandon the project because he wanted more time.
The Sangh Parivar had warned that the film should be abandoned and if released, they would protest. There was a massive cyber attack on Prithviraj following the announcement. BJP-RSS leaders had asked Prithviraj to withdraw from the film through social media.
Harshad and Rameez co-wrote the screenplay for 'Vaariyamkunnan'. Harshad and Ramees are the screenwriters of Mammootty’s ‘Unda’ and ‘Puzhu’. Muhsin Parari was the co-director of 'Vaariyamkunnan'.
