Thunivu is a much-awaited film for Tamil moviegoers. Directed by H. Vinod, the film starring Ajith will hit theatres as a Pongal release. Thunivu is an action packed thriller film. Thunivu marks the reunion of Ajith Kumar and H Vinod following the films Nerkonda Parvai and Valimai. The film also stars Veera, Samudharkani, John Koken, and Telugu actor Ajay in lead roles. Nirav Shah directed cinematography of the film, and Vijay Velukkutty edited it. Netflix has the running rights to "Tunivu". Netflix will start streaming the film on OTT after the theatrical release. The film is produced by Boney Kapoor.
Meanwhile, another major film hitting the theatres for Pongal along with Thunivu is Vijay's Varisu. Vamshi Paidipally is the director of Varisu. After nine long years, Ajith Kumar and Vijay's films are hitting theatres at the same time. In 2014, the films released on the same day were Jilla and Veeram. After "Tunivu," Ajith will play the lead under Vignesh Sivan's direction. It is reported that Ajith may also play the lead in the film, directed by National Award winner Sudha Kongara Prasad.
