Singer Harish Sivaramakrishnan has lashed out at supporters of the Taliban. Taliban is a terrorist group that has seized power in Afghanistan. The singers wrote their take on the issue on Facebook.
“Those who think the Taliban; who rules by intimidating a people at gunpoint, who do not allow women to study, who do not even allow them to walk freely, are a wonder and who don’t value human rights, should unfollow/ unfriend me.
I will delete and block the comments which say I did not respond when ‘that’ happened and did not post when the other happened;” wrote Harish Sivaramakrishnan.
Singer SitharaKrishnakumar clarified her position on the issue by sharing the same post. Both posts are getting great support from social media.
Meanwhile, the Taliban have announced that they have seized control of Afghanistan. President Ashraf Ghani and his cabinet have left the country. They have reportedly sought refuge in neighbouring Tajikistan.
Following the Taliban’s attack, the people of Afghanistan have been fleeing the city of Kabul and seeking refuge. There were scenes of people rushing to the airport. The threat posed by the Taliban was made clear, including by women who had come to India.
A woman who arrived at the Delhi airport from Kabul said that the Taliban would kill their relatives. She added that women would have no freedom. Social activists also point out that girls and women are subjected to severe restrictions and oppression.
