Tollywood Summer box office report: 2019 not as phenomenal as 2018 films
According to trade reports, Telugu films that released during the summer season - April, May, and June were not as impressive as last year.
2019’s summer success started off with Majili’s success in April. The film garnered around Rs 35 crore share at the box office. Majili is first solo 30 crore movie Naga Chaitanya. This was followed by Sai Dharam Tej’s Chithralahari, who redeemed himself at the box-office after 6 consecutive flops.
Kanchana 3 became a massive success and it’s run did effect Nani’s Jersey. Kanchana had a superb run in B, C centers. However, Jersey managed to have a good run in A centers and was impressive enough break even.
May didn’t see much films as Avengers released worldwide in record theatres. Maharshi became a hit after mixed reviews. Falaknuma Das too did its best to register its success.
June seems to be quite memorable for Tollywood. Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya and Brochevarevurara are surprising hits. Kalki starting Rajasekhar is a disappointment. Mallesham is received good reviews but those reviews didn’t help to translate into box-office collections.
