Renuka Shahane, who recently made her directorial digital debut with Tribhanga on Netflix, shares her own experience of sexual molestation in the past. In an interview with a website, Renuka recalled the horrific experience but says she couldn't tell her mother back then. "It’s really horrible because I am so close to my mom and I couldn’t even bring myself to tell her for the longest time. I was a kid at that time. And she feels such a lot of guilt because she felt that ‘Oh My God what I could have done better so that my daughter would have come and told me’," said Renuka.
Adding further, she said, “There was no conversation in the 80s which is when this film is set in. At that time there was no awareness at all you know. As kids, we are so trusting that we do not realize that things like this happen and then we think that it is because of us that something like this has happened. Because we can sense it's completely wrong and somehow we carry that guilt and the burden and it takes a long time for us to come out of that."
In her latest release, Tribhanga, a part of the film shows sexual molestation in Kajol's childhood. Renuka also said that she told her children about it so that they can also be aware of the same. Tribhanga also stars Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Parker in pivotal roles.
