'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan is not only noted for his cinematic appearances, but also for his political views. Kamal is an active participant on social media since the COVID-19 lockdown began. He has been constantly interacting with the public through his social platforms. Also, Kamal Haasan is writing letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the situation.

Today, he released a lock down song through his Twitter handle. The song features the struggles of the migrated workers, proletariat, and low-class section of the society. The video talks about those who are deprived of essential needs. The songs have been sung by Dr. Kamal Hassan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Anirudh Ravichander, Bombay Jayashree, Shankar Mahadevan, Sid Sriram, Devi Sri Prasad, Siddharth, Shruti Haasan, Andrea Jeremiah, Mugen Rao & Ghibran are also a part of it. The lyrics are penned by Kamal Haasan himself. Ghibran, a frequent collaborator of Kamal Hassan since 'Utthama Villain' composed it. The lyrics showcase the catastrophe and tries to uplift the helping & survival spirit of the viewers. Kamal Haasan has been contributing since the lockdown ardently. He even requested the Government to use his space for hospital and food accommodation for the needy. He also did a fundraiser and distributed it through his political party 'Makkal Needhi Maiam.' On the work front, he is associated with Shankar Shanmugan for 'Indian - 2.' The film is a sequel to their previous collaboration 'Indian.' The shoot begins after the lockdown comes to an end.
