Promising young talent Karthick Naren, who made his debut with 2016 thriller Dhruvangal Pathinaru, is now gearing up for the release of his second directorial, Mafia Chapter:1. Karthick said that unlike his first film, Mafia will be a full-on mainstream action entertainer, that will cater to a larger section of the audience.
Speaking at an interview, he said that his second film Naragasooran getting shelved has disturbed him mentally. He couldn't write for months and only spent time watching films and reading books. It was his parents, friends and assistants who supported Karthick and made him work on a new film. Thus, he came up with the script of Mafia.
Karthick says that he never writes stories by keeping lead actors in mind. He says that it will limit his boundaries of writing. He only decides his cast after writing the script. But the director added that he started to imagine Arun Vijay and Prasanna, while he was in the midway of this film. He said that there was no heroine character and the role offered to Priya Bhavani Shankar was actually supposed to be a male character. But, Karthick felt that female lead will be an add-on and had cast Priya by making some changes in the characteristics of that role.
Karthick says that it is a do or die film for him and assured that there will be a sequel if the film does well at the box office. Mafia is releasing worldwide on this Friday.
