Upon Winning The Best Actor National Film Award For Soorarai Pottru, Suriya Expresses His Gratitude

The name Suriya is currently booming in the movie business. And with good cause. This is because the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru earned actor Suriya the National Film Award for Best Actor. Droupadi Murmu, the president of India, presented the actor with the award on Friday night in the nation's capital.

 
Suriya expressed his joy and gratitude upon getting the prize, stating that he feels both honoured and humbled. He remarked in an interview with the news organization ANI, “Huge honour. Truly grateful to the National Film Award jury and the Government of India. A lot of emotions are running through my mind. I have a lot of people to thank... Getting goosebumps. Truly a moment which I will never forget."
 
“I have a lot of people to thank. To begin with, there is Sudha. This is her baby. The film gave a lot of hope to people during COVID-19 times. Then, of course, I thank my wife, Jyothika. Getting goosebumps. Truly a moment which I will never forget (sic)", he added.
 
Soorarai Pottru, a Tamil movie directed by Sudha Kongara, is based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. In addition to Suriya, the cast of the movie also features actors Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, and Karunas. On November 12, 2020, Amazon Prime Video made this movie available.
 
Along with Suriya, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn also won a national cinema award for his performance in the movie Tanhaji in the Best Actor category.
