Varun Dhawan appeared in Bhediya in November 2022. The actor had undergone extensive training in order to portray a man who was gradually transforming into a mythical wolf. Even still, the movie's box office performance fell short of what the makers had hoped for. However, the actor stated that the projects he has worked on have been creatively pleasing.
Varun Dhawan told Mid-Day, “When the lockdown happened, I hit a roadblock. I was burnt out. I felt my choices have to be films that I am creatively satisfied with. The reason to do them should not be that I have dates available." He also claimed that Jugjugg Jeeyo and Bawaal were the results of much waiting. Varun stated, “I am the proudest of these three films (Bhediya, Jugjugg Jeeyo, and Bawaal".
He did, however, have high hopes for Bhediya's performance at the box office. “It has been such a strange year, (with films) trying to get people back to theatres. I expected Bhediya to do better box-office numbers than it did. Having said that, I am grateful that people have seen the film in cinemas and its collection is higher than that of many. It tells you that you should try and do better,” he said.
Bhediya is presented by Dinesh Vijan and Jio Studios. On November 25, 2022, the movie starring Deepak Dobriyal, Abhishek Banerjee, Kriti Sanon, and Varun Dhawan among others, was released in 2D and 3D theatres in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. It was directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan. It was a Maddock Films production.
Varun Dhawan will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari's Bawaal, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor. The movie is slated for release in 2023. The actor will star in Citadel in India alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK are in charge of the project, which was originally created by the Russo Brothers.
