Recently many Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to thank the Mumbai police for their tireless work amid the Coronavirus lockdown. Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana and Varun Dhawan all shared messages of gratitude for the city police. Varun Dhawan shared a picture of himself with a cop in uniform on his Twitter while thanking them for their work. Some fans of the Student of the Year star mistook it for a recent picture.
Taking to Twitter some of Varun Dhawan's fans criticized the star for taking a picture with no mask or gloves. A fan wrote, "Where is social distancing, mask, and gloves. The idiot is shaking hands with policemen risking him of infection. The bad example set by this actor."
However, as soon as Varun Dhawan saw the tweet he clarified the entire incident. He wrote, “Idiot this is an old picture clicked 2 months back love u." In a reply, the same fan later tweeted writing, “Hahaha, should have mentioned that. Love you too."
Dhawan has also urged his fans and followers to follow all health protocols issued by the government to fight the battle against Coronavirus. He shared an incident of one of his relatives contracting the virus in the US and emphasized on the intensity of the virus. He wrote, "It’s very close to home right now. Until it happens to someone you know, you don’t take it seriously and understand the gravity of it."
Dhawan will next appear on the big screen with his film Coolie No 1 opposite Sara Ali Khan. The David Dhawan directorial has postponed the film's release until after the Coronavirus pandemic gets over.
