Varun Dhawan Unveils Sara Ali Khan As The Lead In Prime Video's Ae Watan Mere Watan; Actress To Portray A Freedom Fighter

Sara Ali Khan will star in the upcoming Amazon Original Movie Ae Watan Mere Watan, which begins production this month, according to super-fan and #PrimeBae Varun Dhawan, who promised to provide fans and viewers with "never heard before" updates on Prime Video's upcoming projects. Varun disclosed Sara Ali Khan will play a brave, lion-hearted freedom fighter in a fictitious story set against the backdrop of the Quit India Movement in 1942 in his distinctive, unique style.

As previously reported, the actress would portray Usha Mehta, a freedom fighter. Sara signed this project early this year, a source told Bollywood Hungama. “Sara signed this film earlier this year. Now that she has finished her other commitments, the film will go on the floors in a few weeks. She has been prepping for the film and is very excited to essay a real-life character for the first time”, a source revealed.

The establishment of Congress Radio by Usha Mehta as an underground radio station would be a prominent theme of the movie, the insider claims. It operated for a brief period during the 1942 Quit India Movement. It made a significant impact during those few months by transmitting news that was unedited and other information that the British government of India had forbidden, substantially assisting the freedom movement.

Ae Watan Mere Watan, a thriller drama based on actual events, was written by Darab Farooqui and Kannan Iyer. The movie, which is being made by Dharmatic Entertainment, is being directed by Kannan Iyer and is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. Upon release, Prime members in more than 240 countries and territories will be able to watch the Amazon Original Movie.
