Vasanthabalan established himself in the industry with a few serious films like 'Veyil' and 'Angadi Theru,' 'Aravaan,' and 'Kavya Thalaivan.' The director's most recent film was 'Jail,' which starred GV Prakash in the lead role.

 
Despite being tragic stories, the director's films have been nice successes. Vasanthabalan recently did a screening of a few shortlisted short films. Speaking at the ceremony, the filmmaker allegedly stated that Tamil cinema needs something very vital, and that is respect. He further stated that the scenario exists because of a scarcity of talented story writers in Kollywood.
 
He allegedly stated that there has been a downturn in Tamil film in recent years. Vasanthabalan also offered an example of Malayalam films that are worthy of the screen and whose story writers are celebrated. He said they first finalize the idea and script before deciding whether Mammooty or Mohanlal should play the lead role.
 
According to reports, the filmmaker is also willing to produce and direct films if the stories provided by the writers are good and deserved. He also indicated that he is eager to welcome fresh authors into the field.
