The DC Extended Universe is by far the most convoluted film franchise out there. Now various reports suggest that the franchise is only going to get more difficult to grasp. Hollywood veteran actor Micheal Keaton is set to be returning to play the role of Batman in future DCEU films. Keaton will be returning to play the dark knight in The Flash starring Ezra Miller. Keaton previously portrayed the role of the caped crusader in the iconic Tim Burton-directed Batman films starting 1989.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported writing, "Miller will star in the stand-alone as Barry Allen, aka the Flash, in the Warner Bros film that will be directed by It filmmaker Andy Muschietti. If the deal is sealed, Keaton will possibly also seen as Batman in several other DC film projects, such as Batgirl. The story is said to involve not just time travel but inter-dimensional travel."

Keaton has had a wild ride with his career in Hollywood. The Oscar nominated actor was nominated for an academy award for the film Birdman. The actor is primarily known as a comedic actor, but was criticised as fans didn't see him as a chiselled Dark Knight but Batman (1989) on to become a huge hit.

Keaton later returned as Batman in the 1992 sequel titled Batman returns. Later the role of the caped crusader was taken up by Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan's trilogy. Ben Affleck also portrayed Batman in three separate films. This includes Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and a cameo in Suicide Squad. Another actor who is set to take up the role of Batman is Robert Pattinson. Pattinson will be portraying the Superhero in an upcoming film directed by Matt Reeves.
