The coronavirus pandemic is spreading like a wildfire across the world. More than 1.5 million people got infected with the virus until now. Around 89,000 people have lost their lives. As there is no vaccine for it, many celebrities are also succumbing to it. Till now, a lot of celebrities have lost their lives due to coronavirus. Now, veteran Hollywood actor Allen Garfield has also lost his life due to this deadly virus. The actor is best known for his work in films like Nashville and The Stunt Man.
The 80-year-old actor breathed his last due to the COVID-19 complication. His sister, Lois Goorwitz stated that the actor died to this virus on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Garfield resides at Motion Picture Television Fund Home, where many retired film workers stay. Many of the residents of that area have tested positive for the virus.
Garfield was born in New Jersey. He started off his career as a boxer and later turned as a sports writer. While writing for a sports magazine, Garfield studied acting during the nights. Soon, he decided to shift from journalism to acting. Thus, he ventured into acting. Soon, Garfield became one of the prominent supporting actors during the 1970s.
He worked with Francis Ford Coppola for The Conversation, Robert Redfort for The Candidate, Woody Allen for Bananas, Billy Winder for the Front Page and William Friedkin for The Brink's Job. He was last seen in the film Chief Zabu. Though the film got filmed in 1986, it released in 2016.
