According to sources, well-known Telugu director Sagar passed away in the early hours of Thursday at his home in Chennai from age-related diseases. Sagar was well-known for his work on the movies Amma Donga and Stuvartupuram Dongalu. He was 70 years old.
Sagar made his feature film directing debut in 1983 with Rakasiloya. He then went on to helm about 35 movies over the course of his career. His breakthrough movie was the massive success of Stuvartpuram Dongalu. Public Rowdy, Daadi, Amma Donga, Bharatasimham, Nakshatra Poratam, Ammanaakodalaa, Alumagalu, Jagadekaveerudu, Ramasakkanodu, and Anveshna are just a few of his other well-liked movies.
He had collaborated with a number of well-known actors from the 1990s. This included Krishna Ghattamaneni, Suman, and Bhanu Chander. There were several assistants who worked under Sagar. Some of them, like Srinu Vaitla, VV Vinayak, Ravi Kumar Chowdhary, and G Nageswara Reddy, went on to become renowned directors in their careers.
Srinu Vaitla tweeted on Thursday in response to hearing of his guru's passing. He said, “It is extremely painful to know that my guru Sagar garu is no more. He took care of all his assistants very affectionately and taught many valuable things. He was a great support for all of us. You will be remembered forever sir Om Shanthi (sic).”
