The director of the original Asuran, Vetrimaaran is hoping to bring in Shivarajkumar to reprise Dhanush’s role

Vetrimaaran to produce Shivarajkumar’s Kannada remake of Asuran

Rumour has that Shivarajkumar will be starring in the Kannada remake of Dhanush - starrer Tamil hit, Asuran. According to the latest news, the Tamil director Vetrimaaran is looking to venture into Sandalwood. He is rumored to be producing the remake. Director Jacob Verghese will be directing the remake. Verghese is known for films like Chambal and Savari. Actor Shivarajkumar has previously starred in Verghese’s 2010 flick Privthi. The Asuran remake will be the duo’s second project.

Vetrimaaram has previously produced films like Kaaka Muttai, Visaranai, Kodi and Vada Chennai. Vetrimaaran directed the original Asuran. However, he will not be directing the Kannada remake.
Vetrimaaran had previously tried to work with Puneeth Rajkumar in 2017. Rumour has it that Vetrimaaran was to direct Puneeth Rajkumar in a film produced under the Rockline Entertainers banner. However, the project could not take due to scheduling issues.
Shivarajkumar is currently shooting for Harsha’s Bhajarangi 2. He will also start working on a film called RDX, which is being produced by his cousin Lucky Gopal. RDX will be Shivarajkumar’s 125th film. After fulfilling these two commitments, Shivarajkumar reprising the role played by Dhanush in the original Asuran. However, the industry is still awaiting an official announcement.
Asuran is also being remade in Telugu. Victory Daggubati Venkatesh will take on the lead role. Shivanna seems to have his schedule overflowing with new projects. He is also rumored to being working two other films – a remake of Chiranjeevi starrer Khaidi and a project directed by Ram Dhulipudi.
