As part of the investigation into the Liger money laundering case, Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday. The actor appeared before ED representatives at the organization's regional office in Hyderabad. According to reports, the central agency is investigating the alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). According to reports, Vijay Deverakonda is being questioned about the financial aspects of the film, his payment, and payments made to other stars, including American boxer Mike Tyson.
For the uninitiated, a prominent Telangana politician is accused of investing millions of dollars acquired from abroad. Congressman Bakka Judson protested to the ED about the movie's funding being obtained through illegitimate means, which sparked the investigation. Judson claimed in his protest that even politicians had paid Liger. He claimed that the investors believed it to be the most straightforward method of converting their black money into white.
An allegation that claimed foreign funding, including Hawala money, was invested in the Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday movie led to the ED summoning actor and producer Charmee Kaur as well as director Puri Jagannath.
The investigating firm believes that other companies may have sent money to the accounts of the filmmakers. The film's creators were questioned regarding the specifics of the deal and how the money was given to foreign stars like Mike Tyson and the technical team.
Speaking of the movie, Liger underperformed at the box office despite having an estimated budget of Rs 125 crore. The movie, which was released in August of this year, also starred a few actors who have received praise from critics, including Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy in significant roles.
