In contention for Oscar's entry under Foreign language category from India, one of the 28 films is Vijay Devarakonda's 'Dear Comrade'. Dear Comrade failed to reach the hype at the theatres but received good reviews from the critics. Commercially this movie banked less than expected but content-wise it is well appreciated by many.
28 films across multiple film industries in the country have been selected by Film Federation of India (FFI) which has the authority of sending Indian films to the Oscar's. Andhadhun, 'Badhai Ho' 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' 'Gully Boy' and others were also selected.
This is a unique feat as 'Dear Comrade' is the only Telugu film on this list. Written and directed by Bharat Kamma and produced by Mythri Movie Makers banner, 'Dear Comrade' was an emotional love story. The female lead role was played by Rashmika Mandanna.
