Actor Vijay Sethupathi replied to a journalist who referred to him as a "pan-India star." Vijay stated that he doesn't feel comfortable using the term in recent interview. The actor added that he wants to work on movies in many languages, including Gujarati and Bengali. In the same interview, Vijay's Farzi co-star Raashi Khanna stated that she dislikes the term "pan-India actor."
The next episode of the upcoming action-thriller web series Farzi will feature Vijay and Raashi. Shahid Kapoor and Vijay make their digital debuts in the crime thriller directed by Raj and DK. It will be available to watch on Prime Video starting on February 10. Kay Kay Menon, Amol Palekar, Regina Cassandra, and Bhuvan Arora all have significant roles in the series.
Vijay remarked in an interview with Galatta Plus, "No sir, I am an actor. I am not comfortable with that pan-India statement. Sometimes that gives pressure also. I am just an actor and no need to put a label under this. So, that's enough. I want to do every language film. I want to do a Bengali film, a Gujarati film. So if I get the chance, I'll go and work there."
When Raashi Khanna was asked if she liked the word, she responded as well. She stated: "Not at all. I don't like it. We are all actors first and why divide? I don't think it comes from us as actors wanting to be called pan India. It's probably just the people who are sort of putting it out there... None of us like the term. I think it's more divisional, like why are you diving us? We have already been divided into Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood. Now suddenly it's the north and the south. On top of that, there's another category pan India. Why are we categorizing things?"
