Vijay Varma States That Shah Rukh Khan Wanted To Portray Hamza In Darlings; Here Are The Reasons Why It Didn't Take Place

With Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Roshan Mathew in his most recent film, Darlings, Vijay Varma is now enjoying great success. The actor has received high praise for his portrayal of Hamza Shaikh, an alcoholic who abuses Alia's character Badrunissa "Badru", Ansari's wife. Jasmeet K. Reen, making her directorial debut, helmed the black comedy picture. Gauri Khan and Alia Bhatt (making her producing debut) served as producers under the Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions banners.

Currently, Vijay Varma has disclosed that Shah Rukh Khan had indicated an interest in portraying Hamza in Darlings. “ I remember somebody had told me that when Shah Rukh read the script, he said, ‘ Agar main young hota toh main hi Karta (If I was younger, I would’ ve done this role)’ which was interesting for me to hear". He also mentioned how King Khan's enthusiasm for the role gave him more self-assurance. "That was also one of the reasons I felt that I could do this role, if Shah Rukh Khan thinks that he can do this role, being an absolute lover-boy and a sweetheart. Of course, I was scared to take up a role like this, but I’m very glad that it hit the nail on the head," Vijay added.

In the meanwhile, Vijay has been hired for Sujoy Ghosh's portion in Lust Stories 2. The character that the Gully Boy actor plays in Lust Stories 2 is completely different from anything he has ever done, and the actor-director team is eager to work together once more on this project. Soon after they identify the starring lady for the anthology, they will begin filming.

Along with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay will next be seen in Sujoy Ghosh's adaption of Devotion of Suspect X.
