Vilayath Buddha is a mass action entertainer starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. Prhtviraj has had three box office hits with Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Janaganamana, and Kaduva.Prithviraj plays the lead role of Double Mohanan, a notorious sandalwood smuggler in Marayur.
GR Indugopan's story of the same name is being made into a movie titled Vilayath Buddha. Sachi was set to direct Vilayath Buddha following the blockbuster film Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Vilayath Buddha is directed by Jayan Nambiar, who was Sachi's disciple and Prithvi's co-director on Lucifer. Vilayath Buddha is Jayan Nambiar's first directorial venture.
Vilayath Buddha is produced by Sandeep Sen under the banner of Urvashi Theatres. The screenplay was written by Rajesh Pinnadan along with GR Indugopan. Wilayat Buddha is also a movie that is based on grudges, revenge, and love. Prithviraj joins Vilayath Buddha after completing Shaji Kailas's film Kappa. Vilayath Buddha is expected to be one of the best roles of Prithviraj's career. The music was composed by Jakes Bijoy.
Vilayath Buddha will start shooting in Idukki in the first week of October. Major portions will be shot in Marayur along with Idukki. The camera is by Arvind Kashyap, the cinematographer of 777 Charlie, which was a huge success, including in Kerala. Arvind Kashyap also handled the camera for one of Kannada's hit films, Bellbottom.
