In the last week of July, theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana reopened, which brought a lot of happiness for the Telugu film industry and the audience. Starting from Thimmarusu, many Telugu films have been releasing in theatres. As of now, small to medium-budget films have been releasing and theatres are seeing a decent size of the crowd. On August 14, Viswak Sen, Nivetha Pethuraj, and Simran Choudhary's Paagal Movie was released in theatres and received positive to mixed reviews from the critics and audience alike. Ahead of the film's release, Viswak Sen took to social media to share an earnest appeal to the audience.
Taking to Instagram, Viswak Sen urged everyone to watch the film in theatres so that they can help the management survive through the Covid-19 pandemic. He wrote, "I want to thank everyone who has given me immense support. I believe you will all like Paagal, which hits screens today. I also hope that you will help revive theatres to have a successful run post-second wave. “If there is any mistake in our end in this attempt, we are ready to face criticism. But please do not troll or attack us. We might or might not have the energy to face it but the theatres that provide employment to many won’t. For someone who entered the industry without any backing, you are my only support."
