Following the release of the trailer of the film, Ambernath resident Kamlesh Devidayal issued a notice against Gupta.
In the notice, Gupta said that the film names 'Ravan Leela' in the style of Ramleela. He added that with the act of glorifying Ravana, the film destroy the concept of Ramleela.
The film marks as the Bollywood film debut of actor Pratik Gandhi. Gandhi plays Rajaram Joshi, a stage artist who essays the role of Ravan in a Ram Leela presentation. Bhavai is a film about two people who work in a Ram Leela and how it affects their personal life.
The protagonist Pratik Gandhi said that the name of the film has changed considering the sentiments of a section of the audience. He also said that this is not a film that glorifies Ravana.
“We aren’t showing any interpretation of Ram or Ravan in the film. The film is not at all about it. That’s why the team thought that if sentiments of a certain section of the society are hurt, we don’t mind changing the name if that satisfies them. But I’m sure that’s not the answer to the broader question. We changed the name, but will that solve anything?” said Gandhi.
Hardik Gajjar directs the film. The film also stars Ayindritha Roy, Rajendra Gupta, Rajesh Sharma and Abhimanyu Singh.
