We all know that Kamal Haasan is a multi-talented person. Apart from acting, he can direct, pen stories and also sing songs. Kamal has crooned for many songs in the past. What we don't know is that the legendary actor is the go-to choice for music maestro Ilaiyaraja.
If we get into the story, Ilaiyaraja is currently composing music for a film called Happi, starring Pankaj Kapoor in the lead role. While recording a song, Ilaiyaraja wasn't entirely satisfied with the rendition given by the original singer and immediately asked his assistant to get Kamal on phone. Raja asked Kamal to sing this song and within half an hour, Kamal was in the studio. Happi is a tribute to Charlie Chaplin and Kamal himself is a big fan of the legendary actor. Thus, Raja thought that Kamal would be the perfect choice to croon the track.
Director of the film, Bhavna Talwar said that it all happened in a flash. She said that they were in Chennai for this song recording and Ilaiyaraaja was not happy with the way the original singer is singing it and immediately called up Kamal. She added that within no time, he was in the studio.
Kamal said that his respect towards some people like Shivaji Ganesan, K. Balachander and Ilayaraja has no boundaries. He stated that if they call, he runs.
