The Jayasurya-Ranjith Shankar duo is one of the hit duos in Malayalam. Their latest film ‘Sunny’ is set to release on September 23 through Amazon Prime. Jayasurya is gearing up for the twentieth year of his career with ‘Sunny’ ‘Sunny’s being his 100th film.
There is only one character in the film. Jayasurya says he was excited that there was only one character in the film. Jayasurya says that Sunny was a very challenging film. Jayasurya said in an interview with Mathrubhumi that his first decision was not to do the film.
“The fact that there was only one character in the film excited me. Because I'm a fan of Hollywood movies like Cast Away. When Ranjith first told me Sunny's story, I could not connect with the character. That's why I thought I shouldn't do it.
But after a while, Sunny came to mind. That is why I went to discuss with Ranjith once again. Ranjith had made up his mind that he would do the film anyway, if not me, with someone else. After days of discussion, we discovered new possibilities. I was worried that the audience would get tired of seeing only one character. Thus, Sunny was a very challenging film;” says Jayasurya.
Written and directed by Ranjith Shankar, the film ‘Sunny’ will stream on Amazon Prime. Sunny will be available in India and 240 other countries from September 23.
Jayasurya and Ranjith Shankar's previous films include Punyalan, Su Su Sudhi Vatmeekam, Pretham, Punyalan Pvt Ltd, Njan Maryakutty, and Pretham 2.
