Will Netflix Renew Trese For A Second Season 2?

Netflix released the first season of Trese, a supernatural horror anime just two days ago. The short 6 episode anime series is a crime thriller that draws from Filipino folklore. Trese has great world-building, characters, and action. The anime has quickly picked up popularity. The main character Alexandra Trese voiced by Shay Mitchell has become a celebrated character as well. While it is too early to say Trese will have one or more seasons in the future, the fans can certainly hope.

The short series has a run time of only three hours. The highly binge-able will leave you reaching out for the next episode button! While Netflix almost never announces renewals before looking at how well it performs. Even for very popular shows such as Stranger Things and Brighton, the OTT giant takes a while to make the decision. However, Trese has a lot going for it. Based on Filipino komik of the same name by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo, Trese follows Alexandra Trese who takes on evil criminal forces head-on! The komic is immensely popular and has received praise from the likes of Neil Gaiman. Since the show is based on a komic, there is plenty of material to draw from for the new seasons, if there are any. The comic book happens to have a huge following as well!

To add to that, Netflix has gradually adapted several tales of Asian origin to make popular shows like Pacific Rim. Such projects are a part of Netflix's larger initiative to produce and release more Asian content which began in the year 2018. So, it is quite safe to assume a season will come our way in the near future. We'll just have to wait for an official announcement.
