Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam is presently busy shooting for his upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan. In fact, it has been the director's long-time dream to make Ponniyin Selvan. Somehow, the film failed to materialize due to financial crunch. Recently, the makers finished the first schedule of the film.
When the news about Vairamuthu working in Ponniyin Selvan broke, many condemned Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman for working with a #MeToo accused. The backlash continued for several weeks. Suddenly, when the team released an official press statement, Vairamuthu's name was found to be missing.
Recently, AR Rahman gave an interview to a popular television channel to promote his upcoming films. When Rahman got asked if Vairamuthu is a part of a film, he had a diplomatic answer for it.
The Oscar award winner said, "You will see who will be writing it (lyrics). We can’t discuss it now. Whatever it may be, Mani Ratnam’s office will announce it." Ponniyin Selvan boasts of an ensemble cast including Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Arjun Chidambaram, Lal, Aishwarya Lekshmi and many more actors.
