Yash Raj Films announced Tuesday that superstar Shah Rukh Khan's legendary film "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" will be re-released in theatres throughout the country on his 57th birthday. The production company announced the news on Instagram, disclosing that the romantic drama will screen on Wednesday at PVR, INOX, and Cinepolix theatres.
"Palat... as DDLJ is coming back to the big screen. Experience the legendary journey of Raj and Simran on 2nd November 2022 in theatres across India," the caption on the post read.
The 1995 film, affectionately known as "DDLJ," marked the directorial debut of filmmaker Yash Chopra's son Aditya Chopra. Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Satish Shah, and Himani Shivpuri, among others, gave spectacular performances in the film, which saw Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol emerge as romantic heartthrobs in Bollywood.
It is also famous for its scenic European settings and Punjab's mustard fields, as well as songs such as "Na Jaane mere," "Tujhe Dekha," and "Ruk ja" by Lata Mangeshkar, Udit Narayan, and Kumar Sanu set to iconic Jatin-Lalit melodies.
Shah Rukh, who turns 57 on Wednesday, will next be seen in "Pathaan," a Yash Raj Films production. The spy thriller, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, will be released on January 25.
In addition to "Pathaan," the actor will appear in "Jawan," directed by Atlee and co-starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, and Rajkumar Hirani's "Dunki."
