After Biopic, EC now bans web series on Narendra Modi!
After a lot of discussions between the supreme court and the Election Commission, the biopic of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi was banned from its release as it could affect the mindset of voters before the LS polls that are being held all over the nation.
Vivek Oberoi starred as Modi in the Biopic. Now, Election Commission has directed Eros Now to stop online streaming and remove all connected content of the web series 'Modi- Journey of a Common Man'. The poll body added a web series on a prospective General Elections candidate can't be exhibited while the Model Code of Conduct is in place.
Similarly, Lakshmi’s NTR directed by Ram Gopal Varma was banned from its release in Andhra Pradesh by the high court but in the Modi’s biopic’s case supreme court left the decision to the Election Commission to take a decision and EC immediately banned both the movie and Web series one after another.
