Agriculture University releases rank list for admission to undergraduate courses
The Agriculture University of Tamil Nadu released the rank list of admission for undergraduate courses.
In that Revathi of Kanniyakumari, got first place with the 200/200 this year, which also saws the highest number of applications in the last 10 years, Vice-Chancellor N.Kumar said during the releasing the list.
“ This year, the University received 51,876 applications, the highest in the last decade. As many as 41,590 candidates were eligible. The number of applications this year is at least 10,000 more than last year. The overall seats in constituent and affiliated colleges are 3,905.
Mr. Kumar said the popularity of agriculture courses, the reject in preferences for engineering courses and the security on job offers were the causes for the rise in the number of applications.
“ The demand for engineering courses is not what it was 10 years ago. “This combined with the rising awareness among the students that agriculture graduates could look beyond the government for jobs were the reasons.” Regarding that each seat there are 70 applications.
He said the University would quickly declare the date for the counseling session and it would be 10 days after the start of the medical counseling. The University is expected to start classes in the second week of August, he said. The second application in the rank list is R. Sivalini of Padukottai and the third is M. Alan from Thanjavur.
