This is a horrific incident that anyone wouldn’t want to imagine to have happened to an Arjuna awardee. This tragedy struck the national rally championship’s Jodhpur leg on Saturday after three people, including a minor, were killed after Arjuna awardee rally driver Gaurav Gill's car hit a motorcycle during an FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship race.
Gill, who sustained injuries in his ribs and is also facing respiratory problems due to the crash, is reportedly out of danger. Those killed broke the barricade and entered the track. The deceased were not wearing helmets and were on the track, even though a warning had been issued before the race.
Three members are from the same family and were hit on a motorcycle that had entered the race route died on the spot after being hit at high speed by ace driver Gaurav Gill’s car.
Organizers of the rally event, which was immediately called off following the accident, said Gill was barely 200m from the finish line when the accident took place. The deceased have been identified as Narendra, the rider, wife Pushpa, and their minor son Jitendra.
