Rumour mills in political circles are ringing with speculation that senior Telugu Desam Party MP and former Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has been upset with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu and has stayed away from today's politburo meeting. According to sources in the party, it came as a surprise to many leaders within TDP that a senior leader who holds a significant place in TDP has skipped the meeting which has been headed by TDP Chief.
The conspicuous absence of the Vizianagaram MP apparently is because the party has been sidelining the senior leader after Congress senior leader Kishore Chand Deo joined the party. Speculation is rife that Deo has been trying for Vizianagaram seat and hence, has gained importance in TDP. It has been said that the Party leadership had not consulted Ashok Gajapathi Raju while accepting Deo's entry.
Gajapathi Raju was also absent at the Bhogapuram international airport's foundation laying ceremony which set off the speculation in political circles. With several leaders already jumping ship and being upset with TDP High Command, Ashok Gajapathi Raju now joins the list of senior leaders belonging to this category. We should wait and watch how TDP deals with this silent battle between Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Kishore Chand Deo!
