Bandipur Tiger Reserve destroys hundreds of acres of forest area

The forest department has estimated the destruction of 5,000 acres of forest in the Bandipur wildfire, which started on Thursday evening. Speaking to the reporters at Bandipur, forest minister Satish Jarakiholi informed that around 5,000 acres of forest have been destroyed in the wildfire and efforts are being made to bring the situation under control. He also informed that the department is considering the option of procuring hi-tech fire tenders to douse the fire at the earliest.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and chief of the forest force Ponnati Sridhar accompanied the minister. Even though it was hyped as the worst ever forest fire, according to the authorities, over 10,000 acres of forest were lost in the same region due to wildfire and in 2013 as well, a similar fire incident happened. Meanwhile, challenging star Darshan appealed his fans to help the forest department in its efforts to contain the wildfire. Duniya Vijay too has left for Bandipur forest areas with food materials for the volunteers.
