'BJP won’t spare anyone who grants Special Category Status to AP': Arun Jaitley

“BJP won’t spare anyone who grants Special Category Status to AP”: Arun Jaitley

As Congress releases its elections manifesto ahead of the seven-phased Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders queued up slamming it. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley took a dig at the opposition’s election statement. As Nirmala Sitharaman termed it as ‘pro-terrorists’ and ‘anti-armed forces’, Arun Jaitley opposed the inclusion of Special Category Status to AP in the manifesto.

Terming the opposition party’s promises as dangerous and unimplementable, the Finance Minister rubbished its support to Andhra Pradesh that they would grant SCS once they come into the ruling. "The special financial package given to Andhra Pradesh is in lieu of the Special Category Status (SCS) as the 14th Finance Commission had removed the granting of SCS to any State and that it was exactly equivalent to the amount the State would have got even under the SCS,” read the statement.

Jaitley fired questions to the Congress party as of how can Congress make such a blatant promise. “What right does the Congress have to go against the law and make such inclusion? Where will you get the funds for Special Status? BJP won’t spare anyone who grants Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh,” he noted.

He also added that with this announcement, few other states too will start demanding Special Status and Congress is unnecessarily inviting troubles with such promises. On this note, Jaitley bashed Chandrababu Naidu for taking a U-Turn regarding the special package.

These statements made by the ruling party are receiving mixed responses from the political fraternity. A few critics felt that BJP is feeling insecure as Congress announced the thing which was not done by them. This made it clear that BJP is not concerned with the demands of Andhra people.
