Several houses looted and car burned in West Bengal's Mominpur during communal clashes between two sects. Police said the violence erupted after religious flags erected on Sunday night for Milad un-Nabi were vandalized. The next night, a group of people vandalised several houses on Mayurbhanj and Bhukailash roads. Following this, the protestors ransacked the Ekbalpur Police Station and set it on fire.

After the outbreak of violence in Mominpur, BJP's social media chief, Amit Malviya, came out strongly criticising the government. Amit Malviya alleged that communal riots have become common under Mamata's rule.
The BJP leaders demanded the Central Government's intervention to maintain law and order in the state. Security in the area has been beefed up after incidents of violence were reported. Several policemen, including Deputy Police Commissioner Soumya Roy, were injured in the violence. BJP leaders posted footage of riot-like streets on Twitter.
