Congress spokesperson in Punjab, Jaiveer Shergill, resigned from the party. Shergill said in his resignation letter that decisions are based on personal interest. Shergill also accused the party of not trying to recognise the reality. The resignation letter was sent to Sonia Gandhi.
Congress Shargill's resignation is the third resignation for congress in a month. Earlier, Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from the post of Jammu and Kashmir Election Campaign Committee Chairman and Anand Sharma from the Himachal Pradesh Steering Committee.
Jaiveer Shergill is a post-graduate in law. He is the spokesperson of the Punjab Congress and was a member of the party's national media panel list. He has resigned from Congress, and it is not yet clear which party he will join.
The working committee meeting will meet on Sunday to decide the process and date for electing the new Congress president. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal informed attendees that the meeting will be held online.
