Congress leaders staged protest against BJP as it fails to release flood relief funds
Former CM and CLP leader Siddaramaiah and several leaders held a protest against BJP government. While Congress alleged that BJP has failed to take up the flood relief and drought-relief. They also demanded the Centre declared flood havoc in the state as a “national calamity.”
They were given the memorandum to Governor Vajubhai R. Vala with an appeal for funds to PM Modi. They wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi, to release Rs 5,000 crore as interim relief to Karnataka floods.
Meanwhile, they also urged that PM to hold an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in the State. They alleged that BJP government has not released funds still now, the Congress also demanded that CM BSY to lead a delegation to PM to seek funds from the Centre.
As they have not met even after the petition to Governor they were the plan to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. In bid to highlight the Union and State government’s “apathy” towards Karnataka flood victims.
By the heavy floods damaged the public and private properties in 103 taluks in 23 districts. The State government has decided to take a ministerial delegation to Centre after assessing the damage owing to floods. It was estimated at Rs 32,000 crore.
